Privacy Policy for Dog Care
This Privacy Policy explains how Dog Care (“the app”, “we”, “I”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Dog Care iOS application.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Pet profiles — name, date of birth, breed, sex, weight, and photos you add for your dogs
- Care tasks — task titles, notes, due dates, and completion history you create
- Weight entries — weight logs and associated notes
- Emergency contacts — names, phone numbers, and notes for contacts you add
Information Collected Automatically
- Crash reports and usage analytics — collected via Google Firebase to help identify and fix bugs and improve the app. This data is anonymised and does not include personally identifiable information.
- Device information — basic device type and iOS version, collected as part of crash reporting.
- Purchase information — when you start a free trial or purchase a subscription, transaction details (the product purchased, subscription status, and renewal/expiration dates) are processed to unlock and maintain premium features. See “Subscriptions and Purchases” below.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the app’s core features (pet care tracking, reminders, weight history)
- To sync your data across your Apple devices via iCloud (using CloudKit)
- To diagnose crashes and improve app stability via Firebase Crashlytics
- To understand general usage patterns and improve the app via Firebase Analytics
- To process and manage subscription purchases and unlock premium features
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
iCloud and CloudKit
Your pet and care data is stored on your device and, if you are signed into iCloud, synced via Apple’s CloudKit. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account and governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. We do not have access to data stored in your iCloud account.
Subscriptions and Purchases
Dog Care offers an optional premium subscription. Payments are processed by Apple through the App Store; we never receive or store your payment card or financial information.
To manage subscription entitlements (verifying which features you have access to), we use RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management service. When you make or restore a purchase, RevenueCat processes:
- The product identifier and transaction/receipt information for your purchase
- Your subscription status, including trial, renewal, and expiration dates
- An app-generated anonymous identifier and basic device and country information
RevenueCat acts as a data processor on our behalf and does not use this data to identify you personally to us. Data handled by RevenueCat is governed by RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy. Purchases are also subject to Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Firebase (Google)
Dog Care uses Firebase services provided by Google, including:
- Firebase Crashlytics — for crash reporting
- Firebase Analytics — for anonymised usage analytics
Data collected by Firebase is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. Firebase Analytics data is anonymised; we do not use it to identify individual users.
Photos and Camera
If you add a photo to a dog’s profile, that image is stored locally on your device and synced to your personal iCloud account. Photos are not uploaded to any server controlled by us.
Notifications
Dog Care may send local notifications to remind you of upcoming care tasks. These notifications are generated on-device and do not involve transmitting any data to external servers.
Data Retention
Your data is stored on your device and in your iCloud account for as long as you use the app. You can delete individual entries within the app at any time. To delete all data, remove the app from your device; this will also remove locally stored data. iCloud data can be managed via your iCloud settings.
Subscription records held by Apple and RevenueCat are retained according to their respective policies and applicable financial record-keeping requirements.
Children’s Privacy
Dog Care is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
